2024 Troop 26 Flag Program

This is the ninth year of our program and we are hoping to make it bigger and better than ever!  This is the largest flag program in the Tulsa metropolitan area.  We only serve a few neighborhoods in the Tulsa and Broken Arrow areas and we plan to continue to maintain the highest level of integrity and service to our program participants.

The first flag holiday is Memorial Day.  Generally speaking, we will plan to have flags out sometime over the weekend before Memorial Day and will pick them up a few days after Memorial Day (sometimes as late as Saturday). Now is the perfect time to get signed up!!!

How the service works

After you sign up for the Troop 26 Flag Placement Service, a team from Troop 26 will bury a flag sleeve in your yard.  The sleeve is 15 inches long and is made of PVC pipe.  It will be placed low enough that it will not be hit by lawn mowers.

Flags will be placed for 5 holidays throughout the year.  The Holidays include the following:

  • Memorial Day
  • Flag Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day / Patriots’ Day (September 11th)
  • Veterans’ Day

A team from Troop 26, which will include two or more scouts and two adults, will place the flags before the holiday and will retrieve the flags after the holiday.  Flags can be placed up to 3 days in advance of the holiday and retrieve up to 3 days after the holiday.

More About the Program

Troop 26 has developed this Flag Placement Service as an opportunity for the troop to be more visible in the community and to assist with the fundraising needs of both the scouts who participate in the program as well as the troop itself. Troop 26 is a special troop and very few troops in the world can stack up to the program offered by Troop 26. With over 150 scouts and more than 60 ASMs, Troop 26 is one of the largest troops in the United States. The troop is responsible for over 750 Eagle scouts over the past 50 years. Each year, the troop offers a rich program to help develop our scout members into the most respectable young men in our community. By supporting the Flag Placement Service, you will help support the following events/programs that are put on by Troop 26:

  • Monthly Campouts
  • Regular Courts of Honor
  • White Stag Leadership Program
