Troop 26 has been chartered to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma since 1954. The church is located at 8730 East Skelly Drive (near 31st and Memorial on the north side of Skelly Drive). Our membership represents boys from Tulsa, Owasso, Jenks, Bixby, Broken Arrow, Catoosa, Claremore and Sand Springs. Our membership is currently around 130 scouts, and 60 adult leaders. Bill Shaffer has been Scoutmaster for the past 50 years, taking on the role in 1969. Under Scoutmaster Shaffer, Troop 26 has seen 755 scouts earn the rank of Eagle.
Troop 26 is a boy lead troop. The Senior Patrol Leader is elected by vote of eligible scouts (must be under the age of 18) and serves a six month term. There are 10 active patrols, which each have 8-20 members. Each patrol selects a Patrol Leader and an Assistant Patrol Leader, who also serves a six month term. Integral in the success of Troop 26 is the Leadership Corps, a patrol made up of scouts who have earned their Eagle rank. Through this organizational structure, Troop 26 is able to provide a rich, high quality scouting experience for all participating scouts.
Troop 26 would like to invite you to visit our troop and see why so many scouts from all over the City of Tulsa and the surrounding area have chosen Troop 26 as their scouting home. We meet on Monday evenings from 7:30pm until 9:00pm. Our doors are always open to visitors.
Our adult leaders are Wood Badge trained and many of the leaders have remained with the troop long after their sons have moved on.
Thanks for visiting.
